Did you catch the NFL Hall of Fame game last week? That can only mean one thing: fall is right around the corner. Autumn is an amazing time in Boston and all of New England, whether you enjoy leaf peeping, hiking in the crisp air or sampling various pumpkin and apple treats. With fall quickly approaching, our team of Boston public relations and social media pros is planning ahead for some of the best scenery, flavors and events.
For almost 10 miles between Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Bedford, Massachusetts, you can walk, run or cycle on the Minuteman Bikeway. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, “America’s Revolutionary Rail Trail” is beloved by commuters and weekend warriors alike. When following the trail through Arlington, Massachusetts, give your Bolt PR friends a wave as you pass by our office on Massachusetts Avenue.
Ride the Mount Washington Cog Railway for panoramic views of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and the changing fall foliage. Fondly referred to as “The Cog,” this first mountain climbing cog railway in the world and National Historic Engineering Landmark will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2019. At the summit 6,288 feet above sea level, visit the Mount Washington Observatory, a nonprofit institution that researches and educates the public about the Earth’s weather and climate. Averaging a casual 23 feet of snow each year, this “Home of the World’s Worst Weather” is continuously staffed, even in the worst conditions (as in: watch boiling water turn immediately to snow).
It’s not fall without the flavors of cinnamon, ginger and molasses. For all of our sweet treat needs, our favorite spot is Harvard Sweet Boutique in Hudson, Massachusetts. From the Fall Tower of seasonal flavors to the espresso chocolate brownies that provide the caffeine fix needed by any PR or digital marketing pro, you have to visit this bakery and our client, Sue George! For those of you who don’t live in the Boston area, you can also order online and have them shipped right to you or a loved one.
Head just outside Boston to visit any number of historic New England towns, where you can find amazing farms. Get the freshest fruits and vegetables at a farm stand, navigate your way through a corn maze or visit an apple orchard to pick your own bushels while sipping freshly pressed apple cider. Did we mention donuts? Don’t forget the apple cider donuts!
If you haven’t experienced Halloween in Salem, Massachusetts, then you haven’t really experienced Halloween. This legendary town, home of the infamous 1692 witch trials, offers thrills and chills year round. While you’re there, don’t miss some of the most awe-inspiring magic and ghostly illusions on planet earth. For the sixth year running, Salem Screams & The Salem Haunted Magic Show present HYSTERIA: Phobias, a bizarre and spooky show featuring our client, mentalist and mind reader Christopher Grace. Get ready to face your fears!
Fellow Bostonians, what’s on your list of fall favorites?
