Happy Monday, and thanks for meeting us back here at the Bolt Blog! Hopefully everyone has started making their summer vacation or staycation plans and adding them into the calendar, because a little R&R can go a long way for your mental health! Speaking of the calendar, we’re already in the second week of June, which means the weather is officially heating up and so are the trending hot topics. Let’s jump in!

Upcoming Holidays & Observances

  • Flag Day – June 14
  • Juneteenth – June 19
  • Father’s Day – June 20

Trends You Should Know

  • Here’s some royal news for all of you who’ve been on baby watch. Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcomed their baby girl on Friday, June 4, and her name carries much meaning. Their second child and first daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, is named after Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and his mother, the late Princess Diana. The couple released a statement: “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.”
  • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ summer travel plans are out of this world! Bezos announced that he will be traveling to space next month. Yes, you read that correctly. Bezos says that he, his brother and the highest charity auction bidder will travel aboard Blue Origin’s first human space flight from Texas on July 20.
  • We’re flipping out over this one! U.S. gymnastics champion Simone Biles makes history again last Sunday night by winning her seventh national women’s all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Her powerhouse performance earned her a score of 119.650, and she now has the most wins by any American woman in history.
  • It seems that some travelers are ready to set sail again. Over the weekend, Celebrity Cruises was the first ship to sail with guests from North America in over a year. Operating at only 30% capacity, passengers ages 16 and older were required to show proof of Covid vaccination, and the cruise line has enhanced it’s sanitation and encourages social distancing. The CDC has approved Celebrity to sail the first cruise out of the U.S. at the end of June. Meanwhile, other cruise lines are recommending, but not requiring, proof of vaccination when they set sail later this summer. We hope your week is off to a great start, and we’ll see you back on the blog next Monday!
