Trends You Should Know

  • We begin with Sunday’s most adorable news. The winner of Best in Show was crowned at the 145th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Wasabi the Pekingese took the title in the competition that was held at the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, New York. Due to the pandemic, this is the first time the competition wasn’t held at New York’s Madison Square Garden since 1877. In fact, The Westminster Dog Show has a rich history being the second-oldest continuous sporting event in the US, enduring through world wars and economic depressions.

  • “Everything is possible,” Novak Djokovic commonly says, and that held true at the thrilling French Open final on Sunday, June 13. The 22-year-old Greek tennis star won his 19th grand slam title, just one short of reaching the all-time record shared by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. The match lasted more than four hours and was off to a tumultuous start, but Djokovic came back to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the grueling competition.

  • Technology is changing our lives and our nails. Have you heard about the manicure robot? Clockwork is the creator of the first fully autonomous robot manicurist. The days of pouring your heart out to your manicurists (think Elle Woods in Legally Blonde) might be coming to an end as robots have been invented to create flawless manicures in only ten minutes. The goal is to cut down on the time women spend having their nails done and to create a hassle-free process through smart automation. This experimental storefront is currently only in San Francisco but could be expanding soon. Are you ready to say good-bye to a relaxing hour of self care with this quick fix?

  • Barbie is showing love for the environment. Mattel recently launched its first doll collection made from recycled ocean-bound plastic. Mattel’s goal is to achieve 100% recycled materials across all its products by 2030. The Barbie Loves the Ocean Collection launch is just the first step in inspiring environmental consciousness through their products. You go (green), girl!

We wish everyone a peaceful, productive and safe week, and we’ll see you back on the blog next Monday!
